It is February all ready. So how are your New Years resolutions coming along? Are you committed to your list of things that you desire to change? Are you sticking to your guns or our you already falling of the bandwagon? Sometimes we feel that our goals, dreams and aspirations are just simply unattainable at this stage of the game. You may be single and feel that you need to wait until you have a mate to truly walk in the calling God has for you. You may be married with kids and you feel that if you begin to pursue the things that are heavy on your heart that you are neglecting your families needs. You may be an empty nester and now you feel that you waited to long and your time has come and gone. The great thing about life is as long as your breathing your still alive. You can start where you are today and change your tomorrow. So if what you have been doing today and yesterday and the day before is not working for crying out loud change it. You are your own worst enemy or your greatest cheerleader. The new you starts today. It may be a 20 pound weight loss that you have been delaying, saying ” I don’t have time”. Stop lying to yourself. When you take time for you your family will be better off. You will feel better and have more energy. It may be a goal for further education. You can do it from home now a days. Don’t delay figure out what it will take to make it happen and set a plan in place. What ever your goals are if you keep your eyes on the bigger picture yet set some steps in place to achieve it you will be much more likely to meet your goals then if you just start without a plan. This is a new year to get things right. Whatever right means for you start setting it in order today. Change does not happen on its own and it is never easy or comfortable but it is a necessary thing that must take place in ours lives to we don’t become sedentary.
I love this passage in 1 Timothy 6: 6-8 A devout life does bring wealth, but it’s the rich simplicity of being yourself before God. Since we entered the world penniless and will leave it penniless, if we have bread on the table and shoes on our feet, that’s enough.
Let this year be about simplicity. Let your goals be plain and simple. Let your life become more simple. Lay aside the heavy weights that you have been carrying around and embrace the simple life. Change is easier when you don’t have weights holding you back. So as you continue to plow through your New Years list remember keep it simple and to the point. Put God first and take care of yourself this year. If you are whole then your family will flow much smoother.
How’s that working for you???
